Basic requirements and conflicts

Despite different technologies and many stakeholders with different expectations regarding the usage of the header, we need a solution for satellites, that increases the probability that the new standard for the header will be accepted and used in a consistent way.

Not subordinated microsites:

Balance act (example Care Creations)

The relationship to BASF.com is clear due to the side identifier; the user knows where he is currently finding himself.
A link to BASF.com is mandatory. Navigation takes place in the flyout.
The microsite always opens in a new tab. The logo leads to the home page of the corresponding Microsite.

Allthough this solution breaks with the standard navigation pattern of BASF.com, the user will not be irritated, because it is:

• Robust and perceivable: the relation to .com is visible because of the identifier incl. link therefore the user immediately knows where he is.

• Operable and understandable: If satellite opens in a 2. tab the user is still able to orientate himself and knows how to operate forth and back.

Standalone (example Care Creations)

The Standalone microsite always opens in a new tab. Clicking on the logo always leads to the homepage of the corresponding microsite.
A link to BASF.com is mandatory.
